PHILOS. Vue métaphysique du monde, conception globale de la vie, de la condition de l'homme dans le monde. Même si le psychanalyste a des sincérités successives, quelle créance accorder à un Monsieur qui change de Weltanschauung à chaque heure? (CHOISY, Psychanal., 1950, p. 25). [Jean-Paul Sartre] s'était élaboré une Weltanschauung, une vision du monde, structurée par l'En-soi et le Pour-soi (L'Express, 19 avr. 1980, p. 139, col. 1).
Prononc. et Orth.:[]. Attest. du plur. all.: des Weltanschauungen [-] ds VEDEL, Dr. constit., 1949, p. 248. Étymol. et Hist. 1924 (DU BOS, Journal, p. 33). All. Weltanschauung « vision du monde », comp. de Welt « monde » et de Anschauung « contemplation, vision; expérience », de anschauen « regarder ». Le mot a également été empr. par l'angl.
